Facility Information

Welland Campus

In the spring of 2011, Niagara College completed a $90 million campus redevelopment project that included the construction of the state-of-the-art Welland Campus Athletic Centre.  This facility includes a 15825 ft2 Gymnasium, a 3612 ft2 fitness centre, a 1266 ft2 Multi-Purpose Studio, an Athletic Therapy Centre, the Niagara College Knights Hall of Fame, four varsity team rooms, four change rooms, an officials locker room, a coaches office, and administrative staff offices. The Welland Campus Athletic Centre also serves as the home of the Knights, Niagara College’s intercollegiate sport program.

Fitness Centre

  • 20+ cardio workout stations including treadmills, elliptical machines, stairsteppers, upright bikes, recumbent bikes, Jacob’s ladders, and ergonomic rowing machines
  • 15+ resistance machines and pulley systems
  • Comprehensive free weight area featuring a barbell system and dumbbells ranging from 2.5lbs to 100lbs
  • Stretching area with core muscle building equipment including foam rollers, bosu balls, stability balls, mats, medicine balls, and kettle bells
  • Panoramic windows which allow natural light to decrease the need for electric lighting. 

Multi-Purpose Studio

  • 1266 ft2  open floor plan to allow for a variety of fitness classes and other academic and campus recreation classes
  • 12 spin bikes available for campus recreation fitness classes and varsity athletes to enhance performance
  • Equipped with multi-media podium, screen, and whiteboards for an enhanced academic learning experience

Change Rooms

  • Four change rooms designated for student and staff use
  • Accessible shower and restroom facilities
  • Day use lockers

Varsity Team Rooms

  • Individual team room for each of our indoor intercollegiate sport programs
  • Personal lockers for each student-athlete
  • Private shower and restroom facilities

Niagara College Knights Hall of Fame

  • Established in 1998 and updated in 2013
  • Honours those who have brought distinction to both themselves and the Niagara College community through participation in Niagara College Athletics & Recreation.
  • 53 inductees spanning 10 induction classes
 

Niagara-on-the-Lake Campus

The Niagara College Niagara-on-the-Lake (NOTL) Campus was constructed in 1998, and is home to the NOTL Campus Fitness and Sport Centre. The NOTL Fitness and Sport Centre is currently undergoing renovations are part of Niagara College's ongong Campus Redevelopment plan.
