The Niagara College men's volleyball program improved to 8-0 on the season on Friday night earning a hard fought 3-2 victory over the Fanshawe Falcons. The matchup saw two of Canada's top-15 men's volleyball programs square off in a spirited affair that saw the CCAA's #2 ranked Knights come away with the win. The set scores for the contest were 25-22, 26-24, 21-25, 19-25, 15-8.

The back and forth affair saw both teams justify their top-15 spots in the national rankings.

After the match, Niagara College men's volleyball head coach Nathan Groenveld commented "tonight was a really competitive game, and I'm proud of the way our guys battled all match." He continued "it's matches like this that really prove the depth and competitiveness of the OCAA West Division."

The difference in the contest proved to be the play of the Knights middle blockers Logan Varga (Brantford) and Travis Waite (St. Thomas). The two both stand at over six-foot-four and contributed in all facets of the game.

"Our middles played very, very well tonight" said Coach Groenveld. "Both of them for a high percentage, and Travis gave us 16 points, while Logan gave us 14."

The win over the #13 ranked Falcons maintains the Knights position at the top of the standings in the OCAA, and cements their status as one of the top programs in the country.

The team will wrap up 2013 on Wednesday, December 4th when they travel to Kitchener to face the Conestoga Condors.
