Women's Basketball Remain Undefeated

Friday, November 1st saw the Niagara College women's basketball program improve to 3-0 on the season by earning an impressive 69-57 home court victory over the Fansahwe College Falcons. The victory gives the Knights their best start to a season since the 2010-11 campaign that saw the program win its first five contests.

Leading the way offensively for the Knights was first-year guard Mary Ingribelli. The five-foot-nine native of St. Catharines finished with a game high 19 points. Most impressively were Ingribelli's 14 second half points that helped the Knights seal the 12 point victory.

Ingribelli was named Niagara College female athlete of the week for her performance.

After the game Niagara College women's basketball head coach mike Becarria commented "tonight we faced a talented young Fanshawe team and walked away with a good but difficult win. We were a bit anxious on the court tonight."

The Knights started off slowly, allowing the Falcons take an early 8-0 to open the contest.

Tara Gaillonardo helped pull the Knights even scoring six of her 17 total points in the opening frame. Gaillonardo has been suffering from a bout with pneumonia over the last month, and Friday served as her first full game back in a Knights uniform. The Fonthill native also added a game high 11 rebounds.

The undefeated Knights will return to action on Friday, November 8th when the team hosts the Sheridan College Bruins at 6:00pm at the Welland Campus Athletic Centre.

Admission to all Niagara College home games is free for NC students and all games are live broadcasted and archived at www.ocaatv.com.
