LONDON, ON: The Niagara College Knights men's basketball team (7-6) travelled to
London on Wednesday evening to take on the Fanshawe Falcons (4-10). The Falcons
put up a strong fight on their home court, looking to avenge their loss to the Knights
from earlier in the season, but could not make the needed basket in the dying seconds
to tie the game. The Knights were able to secure the 72-70 victory.
The Knights had a strong first quarter, outscoring the Falcons 16-9, but the Falcons flew
back into the game in the second quarter, outscoring the Knights 25-19 to give the
Knights a small 1-point lead heading into the half. A back-and-forth 3 rd quarter ended
with a beautiful 3-point shot by Raheem Dennis to give the Knights a 6-point lead
heading into the fourth. The Knights had a strong start to the 4 th quarter, growing their
lead to 11 points, the largest lead of the game for the Knights. The Falcons clawed their
way back to get within 2 at the end of the 4 th quarter but were not able to score a bucket
in the last few seconds of the game to tie and force overtime.
Fifth year Raheem Dennis led the Knights with 18 points, 5 rebounds, 1 assist, 1 steal,
and 1 block. Third year Skylar Samuel continued his trend of strong play, adding 14
points, 3 rebounds, 1 steal, and 2 blocks. Third year Adrian Pajor also scored in the
double digits adding 12 points, 1 rebound, 1 assist, and 1 steal.
The Knights have little time to rest and prepare for their next game as they will host the
Conestoga Condors at the Simplii Financial Athletic Centre on Friday, January 24 th .
Tipoff is scheduled for 8pm, immediately following the women's game.
