TORONTO, ON: The Niagara Knights men's basketball team (1-2) lost to the Humber Hawks (2-0) in their 2nd road game of a 3-game swing. The Hawks' offense was a bit slow in the 1st quarter, but they were able to hold on for the 66-54 win.
The Knights also got off to a slow start, scoring a measly 8 points in the 1st quarter, although they were able to hold the Hawks to only 12 points. The Knights then scored 12 in the 2nd quarter, finding themselves down by 15 points at the half.
The 3rd quarter was a bit of a different story as the Knights came out of the halftime break with renewed energy. They outscored the Hawks 20-16 in the frame and cut the lead down to 11 points. The 4th quarter was more of a defensive battle, and the Hawks struggled to take care of the ball. However, as much as the Hawks struggled with ball handling, the Knights struggled with shooting, going 2-7 from the 3-point line and 5-18 from the floor.
The Knights were once again led offensively by 1st year Joseph Buckley, scoring 20 points, 4 rebounds, 4 steals, and 1 block in 33 minutes. 2nd year Isiah Panom was the only other Knight to score in double-digits, adding 14 points, 4 rebounds, and 1 block.
The Knights do not have much time to regroup and prepare for their next contest, as they travel to Brampton on Friday, October 29th to take on the Sheridan Bruins. Tipoff is scheduled for 8pm at the Davis Campus Gymnasium.
