Knights victorious over Bruins

Knights victorious over Bruins

November 6, 2024

OAKVILLE, ON: Your Niagara Knights (4-1) headed on the road Wednesday evening to take on the Sheridan Bruins (1-5) in an evening matchup.  The Knights were able to claim the victory, winning 3-1 (set scores were 19-25, 25-18, 25-17, 25-11).

After a slow start losing the first set, the message within the team was a strong one – win and win decisively.  The Knights went into the 2nd set and kicked it up a notch, keeping the pedal down for the rest of the game as their set win margins gradually increased.  The tandem of Abbey Gooder and Natalie Little was in full show during this game as the duo put up a combined 27 points, 18 kills, 4 service aces, 1 assist, 21 digs and 5 blocks.  The 1st year outside hitter from Belle River, Ontario – Charlize Trudell – made her presence known with 4 points off of 4 service aces, providing the Knights with a massive spark off of the bench.

When asked about the game, head coach of the Knights, Steve Stone, conceded that "we came out slow in the first set but were able to settle in and bounce back."  Stone continued to discuss that the "ladies started to execute with more detail, and we definitely reaped the benefits of that attention to detail."

The Knights return home for a weekend matchup against the OCAA West 1st place Humber Hawks (6-0).  The match is set to take place at the Simplii Financial Athletic Center at the Welland Campus on Saturday, November 9th at 1:00pm.  Come cheer your Knights on to victory as we also celebrate Niagara College's Open House from 10:00am-2:00pm.  If you can't make it in-person, be sure to check out the Niagara Knights YouTube page to tune in live.
